Dear residents,

On December 12, at a special meeting, the Council members and I adopted the 2025 budget and the 2025-2026-2027 three-year capital plan. The budget preparation process is also a great opportunity to look back on the achievements of 2024. Among other things, I highlighted the inauguration of our magnificent and very busy covered refrigerated skating rink at Parc des Éperviers; the success of the 2024 edition of the Festival de la soupe, our signature event at Notre-Dame; and our traditional Notre-Dame en famille summer festival. We are also very pleased with the results of the Cité-des-jeunes Arena’s first year of operation. The initial objective was achieved: the intermunicipal agreement made it possible to maintain access to nearby ice time for our organizations and citizens. And, as anticipated, rental revenues cover operating costs, without incurring additional costs for the partner cities. The investment in time and energy was well worth it!

Preparing the 2025 budget was a rigorous and complex exercise, particularly in view of the new 2025-2027 property assessment roll. Despite a 42% average increase in property assessment, we presented a budget with an average tax increase of 3.5%, by adjusting tax rates. Compensations were also revised to reflect the real costs of municipal services. Thus, for a $670,000 residence (average value in NDIP), the tax bill increase in 2025 will be $183.

I invite you to consult the information provided on the website or to review the meeting on the City’s Facebook page. Please do not hesitate to contact me or your councillor if you have any questions or comments.

Due to the strike at Canada Post, the 2024 edition of Quoi de neuf could not be delivered to your mailboxes. I invite you to click on the Quoi de neuf – December 2024 edition link to consult the electronic version. Once again, we welcome your comments. It’s always a pleasure to talk to you.

In 2025, you, the residents of Notre-Dame, will continue to enjoy one of the lowest tax rates in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. To complete the 2025 Budget, we had to make choices that were sometimes difficult, but always with the well-being of our citizens, quality of life and the balance between protecting the natural environment and meeting our financial commitments in mind.

As the year draws to a close, on behalf of the Council and all employees of the City of Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot, I wish you a very happy holiday season with the people you love. Take care and we look forward to seeing you in January 2025.

Your mayor,
